Urban Jungle

A cozy and enjoyable game. Sweet music and a variety of plants, this game is definitely worth picking up and filling an afternoon or two.

I first picked up this game about a year ago when the demo popped up in my feed, and I was immediately on board with the relaxing background music and cute art style. As someone who can (and has) managed to kill a few succulents, I was happy to find a game that let me pretend that I had a green thumb. I gave the short demo version (the first 3 levels) a few runs and have managed to play the demo for almost 2 hours, just rearranging and adding as many plants as possible.

A full run with only hitting the minimum targets for each level will take about 4-5 hours (depending on how you arrange the rooms) and there is a lot of room for replay-ability with the variety of plants that you can unlock throughout the game. Even better, you have the option to free-play any of the levels again and decorate the rooms in any order that you’d like.

For those who like stress-free games this is a great option, there is no way to play this game incorrectly.
While there are recommendations for which plants should go together, you can place your plant babies wherever and however you so choose.
The developers have provided some helpful prompts and an easy-to-understand system for whether or not those needs are met.

I liked the optional to-do lists such as “pet the cat” and “clear the dishes” which are not necessary for completing a level, but are a nice add-on for the completionists out there.
This game is relaxing, endearing and beautifully done. It is not super resource-heavy, and only requires 1GB of storage and 4GB of RAM so you can play on almost any PC. I would love to see a mac port later, but I’m definitely giving this a try on my steamdeck.
Gameplay-wise, you really only need a mouse to select plants and move around the room so it really is an ideal cozy game.
