And that’s why I think this is such an interesting game that is worth playing! If you like puzzle gam- Oh… Wait a moment rewinds time to the beginning That is better, let’s start at the beginning instead of the end.
Timelie is a game where you have have the power to go forward into the future, rewind time, and a few other powers that you use to solve more and more complex puzzles in order to escape, but again I am getting ahead of my self.
You are Character, (I far as I could tell the player controller character has no name and was only referenced as “Character” at the very start in the control tutorial), You wake up in and move around but start getting these weird headaches. As you move through and run away from robots who are trying to catch you, your headaches reach a critical point and you start to unlock powers! Eventually, you also get to control a cat, I named it Phrank, to help you avoid the robots!
The first and main power you get it the ability to control the flow of time! You can rewind or fast forward it. There are many uses of this, but the first and most important is getting to see where the Robots are and where they are looking so you can avoid their patrols and make it to the exit. When you enter a new room Character will enable the time control power and you get to work! Once you find your way to the end of the level you then commit that time-line and you get you to watch as everything you just set up plays out. It can be very satisfying to watch a tricky situation unfold.
I don’t want to give too much away as the game is very interesting and there is clearly a deeper story happening here. There is no dialogue to speak of (heh-heh) but there is a strong connection you form with Character and the ending of the game is intense.
I was able to beat it in a little over 5 hours on my first play-through, and some of the puzzles were very difficult but I knew there was always a way out.
And that’s why I think this is such an interesting game that is worth playing! If you like puzzle games then Timelie is one to check out.
If you want to see it for yourself I live-streamed my playthrough and you can check that our here 🙂
